TRADER JOE’S RISTRETTO CAPSULE REVIEW
Trader Joe’s entry in the Nespresso compatible market feels like most Nespresso compatible capsules. The first thing you notice is its watery body followed by a dark sour flavor which leaves you with a brief aftertaste. Even though Ristretto is not a very subtle debut, it’s a utilitarian capsule that delivers a good caffeine kick. To be fair, knowing that Trader Joe’s isn’t a coffee capsule company, this is a decent enough effort that makes it an affordable competitor for most average Nespresso compatible brands.
COFFEE PAIRING
Trader Joe’s Ristretto coffee capsule box
- Activities: Good for breakfast and waking you up but not flavored enough to be the focus on your coffee break.
- Music: Because it’s quite dark and since International Goth Days was just a few days ago, I’m going with 80’s band Red Lorry Yellow Lorry.
- Food: Recommended with food, more particularly something sweet like pastries or French brioche which you can also get at Trader Joe’s.
UNBOXING
Trader Joe’s Ristretto comes in a black purple-themed rectangle box. It opens from the top and includes 10 black capsules. While the design featured follows the brand’s style guidelines, the fact that they call these capsules ristretto and categorize them as espresso is confusing as ristretto and espresso are two different beverages, the former being 0.85 oz and the latter 1.35 oz.
