Top 3 Best Nespresso Capsules Of 2019

Master Origin Costa Rica Nespresso capsule review and cup

Nespresso Master Origin Costa Rica review: capsule and coffee cup

Now that 2019 has ended, it is the time to reveal our top 3 best Nespresso capsules for the year. While the company has be releasing their yearly holiday capsules – this year Nordic Black, Almond Cake Flavored and Cloudberry Flavored – this didn’t affect our ranking as these end-of-the-year limited editions are as usual too sweet for our own taste.

The ranking below is based only on pods released this year and an overall best of including all Nespresso capsules can be found here.

There were 12 new Nespresso coffee capsules released in 2019 and here are our top 3 best capsules:

  1. Master Origin Costa Rica: it’s pretty rare we give a capsule a 5-star rating but with its surprisingly rich and smooth body, this flawless limited edition espresso ranks as one of Nespresso’s best. Read our Costa Rica capsule review here.
  2. Tribute to Trieste: this Italian-style espresso got a 4-star rating thanks to a challenging and somewhat rough body which gets subtly balanced by a softer fruity flavor. Read our  Tribute to Trieste review here.
  3. Cafe Istanbul: Another 4-star rated release, Café Istanbul delivers a straightforward dark, intense coffee experience which will satisfy espresso fans. Read our Cafe Istanbul review here.

As to how was 2019 in general, based on all our reviews, it was an average year for the Swiss coffee brand, with an overall rating of 3.25 out of 5 which is quite decent but not impressive. Hopefully, we’ll see more exciting coffee capsules releases in 2020.
