RISTRETTO CAPSULE REVIEW

Part of Nespresso’s Intenso line, Ristretto is a strong and dark coffee undoubtedly designed for the most unapologetic espresso lovers among us. I must admit that, upon the first shot, it might somewhat push you outside your comfort zone, especially if you’re just waking up, as it boasts a particularly strong taste and thick texture. Ristretto is slightly acid and chocolaty with a slightly salty after taste, providing a similar experience to eating 90% cocoa dark chocolate. To be frank, this capsule is a bit rough on the edges – I prefer strong coffees to have a smoother texture – which is why you might want to make it into a cappuccino.
COFFEE PAIRING

  • Activities: If you just woke up and want a fast kick, Ristretto is certainly for you but you might want to follow with a smoother, fruitier capsule such as Rosabaya de Colombia.
  • Music: Requires intense, rough music such as Sonic Youth.
  • Food: You should pair it with something strong and intense such as dark chocolate because anything too sweet will be overpowered – trust me I tried with it Brioche and the sweetness got lost.

PACKAGING

Ristretto comes in a rectangle box which features a golden logo and includes 10 black capsules.
