TRIBUTE TO TRIESTE CAPSULE REVIEW

Nespresso’s Tribute to Trieste is one of these coffees that require your full attention to appreciate what it has to offer. Upon first sip, this new limited edition Italian inspired capsule feels like a rough experience with a burnt body and dark intensity. Once you passed that initial impression, a subtle hazelnut and fruity flavor however gently comes tease you, bringing a soft note that contrasts with the harsher texture and a bitter aftertaste. As a side note, I’m always complaining about overly fruity coffees but I must admit that this time Nespresso got it right. Because of its challenging attributes, Tribute to Trieste is a coffee for connoisseurs rather than for casual drinkers and you should probably get a few boxes before it sells out – I certainly did!

COFFEE PAIRING

  • Activities: A good candidate to wake up with a punch, I’m recommending sticking to morning cups because of its intensity.
  • Music: Because it delivers beauty in the darkness, pair it with Killing Joke’s goth tunes, a band that pioneered bringing melodious choruses after dark couplets (yes Metallica copied them).
  • Food: The flavor is so strong that it will overpower anything sweet so go with something chocolaty like pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) or a square of dark salty chocolate.

PACKAGING

Nespresso’s Tribute to Trieste comes in a white rectangle box featuring drawings of the Italian town Trieste.  It opens in the middle and includes 10 white and blue capsules.
