MONSOON MALABAR CAPSULE REVIEW

Monsoon Malabar is Nespresso’s latest limited edition – Grand Cru – capsule which was designed to revive 18th century Indian coffee tradition. While I’m not old enough to attest if this blend tastes like the real thing, it sure has a very strong, distinct personality. At 8/13, it provides a pretty intense experience with a rich body, slightly woody tones and an upfront bitterness coming from the spices. But what I like the most about Monsoon Malabar is its saltiness which reveals itself slowly while sipping but perdures after you put your cup down. While Monsoon proves to be at its best as an espresso, it is also one of the rare blends that also deliver as lungo, preserving both its taste and intensity as a longer cup of coffee.

  • Activities: This is one of these you can enjoy anytime for its taste, from the first cup waking you up to accompanying you throughout the morning. What’s great is that it feels strong without being too caffeinated, which means you can get several cups without feeling wired …
  • Music: Because it’s intense, salty and aims at being exotic, upbeat tunes from the Electro-Rock Mexican band Kinky and Colombian group Bomba Estéreo make for a great musical match.
  • Food: Because it’s strong and salty, it works perfectly with  salty dark or milk chocolate.

PACKAGING

Nespresso’s Monsoon Malabar comes in a fancy burgundy rectangle box featuring a ship and including 10 decorated burgundy capsules.
